Did you know this week is National CPR Awareness Week?
Every year, CPR Awareness Week serves as a crucial reminder of the life-saving power of CPR, or if you want the full name – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This week is dedicated to spreading awareness, educating communities, and empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to act swiftly and effectively in emergency situations. And we want to do our part to spread the word. CPR is more than just a technique; it’s a vital tool that can mean the difference between life and death when someone experiences cardiac arrest.
In fact YOU are so much more important than you even know! Why you ask? Well, because bystander intervention (aka. YOU helping a stranger) can double or even triple survival rates.
The importance of widespread CPR training cannot be overstated.
In honor of CPR Awareness Week, and to help spread the message, we have prepared 2 – yes 2! – podcast episodes for you! Our usual episode on Tuesday, and a quickie bonus episode that drops Thursday. So make sure to grab them both!
Podcast Episode / #14 Breaking the Silence: Bridging the Gender Gap in CPR for Women In this episode we’re discussing alarming new research that reveals women are less likely to receive CPR during a heart attack, which then leads to lower survival rates for our mothers, sisters, grandmothers, and daughters. This shocking gender gap isn’t just a medical issue – it’s a societal one. This week we’re exploring the surprising reasons why bystanders hesitate to help women in cardiac arrest, and unveiling innovative solutions (like drag queen chest plates) to bridge the gap. Join us as we fight for change and work to arm you with the knowledge and confidence to save a life, regardless of gender. You can download the episode here.
Bonus Episode! Don’t Hesitate: Equip Yourself with CPR Knowledge and Save a Life In this special bonus episode we are emphasizing the critical importance of CPR training and encouraging everyone to take a class, whether it’s through AHA, Red Cross, HSI, or any other reputable provider – like us! We will share some practical tips on locating AEDs in public spaces and offer a little motivation and encouragement to get trained. You can download the episode here.
